SCOTT SCHUMAN AND THE SARTORIALIST

Back when Scott was working in the fashion industry, he always felt that there was a disconnect between what he was selling in the showrooms and what he was seeing people wearing in real life. His only strategy when he started the Sartorialist blog was to to shoot stylish New York characters in a way that most designers seek when hunting for inspiration. Since he started his blog two years ago, he has garnered a tremendously loyal and devoted fan base as well as numerous press accolades. Today, the blog has close to 60.000 visits a day. 



Prior to starting The Sartorialist, Scott worked in sales and marketing in the high-end women抯 fashion market such as Helmut Lang and Jean-Paul Gaultier. He eventually opened his own showroom specializing in sales and press for such young designers as Peter Som and James Coviello. 



Since then his love of fashion and photography have merged into his widely read blog, as well as in his contributions for GQ and Style.com. Time Magazine recently selected him as one of the top 100 design influences in the world.

Men's Collection
Loaded with American references, the Rugger range captures the spirit of a coast-to-coast road trip. From relaxed LA styling to bandana prints, western checks, southern workerwear inspirations, and classic east coast symbols – all add character when mixed and matched against a range of denim that is at Rugger’s core. Patched jeans worn with retro-style jacquard knit slipovers and tab collar, striped poplin shirts are typical for this quirky vintage preppy look, while fitted short sleeved shirts contrasted with loose railroad chinos express a play on proportions. Faded brights next to neutrals and heavy washes create that desired ‘favorite garment’ feeling. 



Women's Collection
Teeming with individuality and a sense of free spirit, the Rugger range presents a west coast take on east coast prep, with a dose of utility wear and vintage inspiration. Working around the theme of ‘a wardrobe of favorites’, khaki and denim uniforms are anything but basic in this range, showing reworked silhouettes and updated treatments. Mixing and matching is the lead styling tip for this fun-filled summer look featuring a floral balloon top or checked volume camisole together with khaki or madras turn-up shorts. A short sleeved track suit jacket, western-style bandana prints and floppy straw hats are other simple ways of working a preppy sensibility with downtown street sense.

Mirroring a youthful and carefree attitude, preppy garments with vintage flavors are presented encouraging mixing, matching and styling according to the mindset of the day. Evocative of the iconic ’50s, the patinous biker jacket is a summer must-have, boldly combined with fitted pants or faded jeans with printed T-shirts in washed cotton. Western-inspired shirts in plaid and madras patterns along with the fitted denim shirt are wear-everyday-items that complete the summer wardrobe. Perfect for laid-back days are loose fit cargo pants combined with a short sleeved shirt or stonewashed crewnecks with raw edges reminiscent of worn all-time favorites. Floral and ethnic prints, badges, colored stitches and patchwork enhance the authentic feeling of the range as well as sun-faded colors and accessories such as block-striped knee socks for endless styling opportunities.
